The Center is formed with an aspiration to present the young people with an opportunity to talk about their problems and needs, and fulfill some of those needs through various programs. The Youth Center opened at the end of February 2002, and started as a Youth Web Points, New Belgrade. The participants of the Youth Web Points learned the basics of computers and some users programmers, and had the opportunity to freely use computers and Internet, communicate with people all over the world and be involved in various projects. Also included in the Center were numerous workshops: dancing, acting, foreign languages, psychology, urban culture, and in some of them shows and performances were organized. Round tables were also organized in the Center, where young people had the chance to choose different topics and discus them.
The last three years, we were focused on finding a permanent solution for the space of the Youth Center. In cooperation with friends of the organization that were building a youth hostel, we have managed to acquire the space that is ideal for our purposes. The hostel is a 2 storey floating house on Danube, placed on a central park in New Belgrade, with a lodging capacity of 25 people in the upper floor, while the ground floor is an open multifunctional space offered for the activities of our organization. We want to use the international atmosphere of the youth hostel to enrich the multicultural perspectives of our projects. We are currently moving to the new Center that will offer free acces to internet, different workshops and seminars, cultural performances and exibitions and will always be open for young people to come listen to music, read, talk to friends and meet new people. We also plan to have outings and sport activities taking advantage of the natural surrounding of the new Youth Center... All programs and using of Centers equipment are for free. The Center is located
in New Belgrade, in Bulevar Nikole Tesle bb, in the ground foor of the "ArkaBarka" youth hostel. You can find out more about the space at www.arkabarka.net
